History:
Kenshi could never explain it, but he loved swimming and being in water more than anything. It helped that he lived near the ocean, where he could walk down to the beach whenever he felt like it, but his love of water was not such a positive influence on him. He was naturally a reclusive boy, so instead of trying to go out and make friends, Ken would hide away from the troubles of the world in the water. The water never judged him, didn’t have excessive expectations for him, nor did it scorn him for doing something wrong when he even didn’t know.

Kenshi’s parents on the other hand did not approve of his intense love of water, they thought it was borderline obsession. They had the best intentions when they told Kenshi that they were going to move farther inland, away from the ocean or any lakes. He tried pleading with them, tried endlessly to convince them otherwise, in the end they gave him once chance, he was to improve his social skills with kids his own age or they really were moving. It sounded easy enough, but for Kenshi it was work. He could make friends of course, but it felt fake and forced, and while he was being practically forced to play with them, he’d be thinking of just floating on the churning tides.

He wanted nothing more than to put an end to the fake friendships he was making and go back to the ocean, or better yet to find the perfect lagoon or lake with the perfectly clear body of water. A dream paradise where he could spend the rest of his life away from everyone, where the water was always clean and transparent, where no one else could ever find it. But for now the beach was more than enough for avoiding others, especially when his parents made the move final, saying that they liked his improvements and they wished to see more in a new area.

He ended up running to his beach, to yell in frustration at the sky, to let the water hide his tears, and to kick at the sand in anger. That was how he ended up kicking a buried orb, it hurt like crazy, but he didn’t have much time to dwell on the pain for the next thing he knew it was like a giant wave left him spiraling below the water. That was how he ended up being part chinchou. It was scary, and extremely confusing at first, but when he saw that he could stay underwater for much longer than before, he only saw it as a blessing. And he might not know where he was, but maybe, just maybe, this was the chance Kenshi was looking for, for a chance to find that perfect haven of water to call his paradise.
